Mum’s Goal for 2009

Hi there, as you may know by now, I am Peggy’s mum Gill and I thought I might share with you my goal/resolution for 2009. It’s an oldie, but a goodie… to get fit and to stop the roller coaster of being good/bad and just be healthy. I have eaten enough crap over the Christmas period to sink a very tubby ship so I decided to make 2009 my year.

I have been running on and off for 4 years, and although I am not very good and don’t really enjoy it, 7 miles is my longest run. Peggy’s dad’s family all run and that is very motivating, and I used to enter races when I got caught up in the moment. However, I invariably didn’t actually run and wasted my money entering. To be truthful, the only races I am really bothered about (and therefore actually DO!) are the Cancer Research Race for Life and 10k.This is only because my grandad died on Valentines day 2004 from cancer and this prompted me to donate on-line, which is where I found the race.

Anyway, the first thing I might do, is maybe start gently running again in the New Year. So my inital goal is to run 4 times in January… now this might sound like nothing to you, but like I said, not very good and don’t really enjoy it So it will be massive for me. To help me with this, I have kick started my Nike+ and have “officially” set up my goal to start on January 1st.

Now due to the limitations of WordPress.com, this isn’t a flash file and just a picture, but if you click on it, it should take you to the Nike+ site where you will be able to see the test tube bar move up as I run, in real time (so to speak).

Christmas Tree & Other Stuff

So boys and girls, mum is still poorly, she is still full of a cold/flu and last night she had a raging temperature and was like an advert for Ready Brek (sorry I know I am showing my age there a little). For those of you who are too young and sprightly to remember, see picture in Gallery below…

Anyway, and after a long sleep, she feels a little better and her and dad decided to put the Christmas tree up. They always um and ar about getting a real tree, but quite frankly, they can never be arsed with all the faffing, so they have got a rather lovely fake one that Grandad Dixon bought us. Anyway, after a small tree-light related rigmarole, they put it up this afternoon. I helped as much as I could, by getting under everyones feet and curling up to sleep just in the spot where mum needed to put something very heavy down and in the end mum shouted what sounded like a rude word, but I sure this is just human for good dog!

Anyway, just as the day couldnt get any better, mum did this to me… (tut tut)

Actually, I think I would make a rather good Christmas helper, lots of food and giggly woofs, what’s not to like?

Peggy’s Injury

Mummy is very pleased with me. We had a bit of wobble when some of my stitches “popped” and my skin died around my wounds, but everything (whilst still a little grotty) is slowly but surely healing up. However I am royally sick of the cone they make me wear. My mum says I have not sense of spacial awareness and therefore keep banging into things. They did try to take me for a small walk today, but when I tried to sniff the floor, I just kept scraping leaves into it. Mum and dad have gone back to work sort-of, but they are workin shorter hours to make sure I am OK. Grandma Dixon and Lola-Mai have even been into see me during the day! As you can see from below, even thought I hate the cone, I look pretty cool in it!

Peggy’s been injured :-(

Hi there to everyone that reads Peggy’s blog. I am sorry that it’s me writing today, but Peggy can’t manage it at the moment as unfortunately she has been quite badly injured. She was out for a walk yesterday in Carr Mill Dam when she spotted some squirrels. She went chasing after them and something cut her quite badly on her side (we are not sure what exactly). Michael had to wrap her in his jumper and carry her from where they were to the Huntsman in Haydock (about 1.5 miles) and eventually he managed to get a lift to the vets from my uncle. The vets in Church Road (SA & LR Jones) are nothing short of amazing and they immediately operated on her to sew her back together.

We have had something of a traumatic night as Peggy has been in a lot of pain and discomfort. She has two massive cuts on her side and looks a little like Frankenstein’s monster! She has chest drains in as well to stop pools of infections forming and we are just keeping a close eye on her. For those of you who can bear it, here are the initial pictures:

Snow

Its snowing, its snowing!!! I just love it when it snows, there is so much to sniff under the white stuff and it feel lovely to roll over and over in it! Auntie Jill has been again this morning whilst daddy gave her a football lesson. Mum & I went for a walk on the field with them to say hello. I was just sniffing in my normal places when I spotted dad in the distance. I ran towards him as fast as I could and he gave me a big cuddle and fuss and then I ran back to mum and she did the same!! I love running I do.

Mum and I carried on with our walk and we met 2 brown dogs who were dead friendly. I played with them for a while until I got fed up and went back to my sniffing. When we got back, I was so mucky again that mum had to tie me up and rub me clean with a towel. She think I don’t like it cause I always look sad, but I love it really and if I look sad enough, I always get a chew stick… bonus!

Auntie Jill has gone home now and dad is in the bath, hmmmm time for a tummy tickle I think…. “Mum!!!!” Here is a picture of me & mum in the snow! Bye xxx
